Bear, Stung by Bees, Attacks Farmer

DUNGUN, Malaysia A 52-year-old farmer suffered serious injuries to his face when a bear, believed to have been stung by honey bees, pounced on him at the man's farm in the east Malaysian state of Trengganu, a wildlife official said Saturday. Puteh Ismail was rushed to a state hospital for treatment of his badly injured right eye, state wildlife and national parks department director Ahmad Samsuddin Saari said.

The incident happened after Puteh and his friend Muda Sulong, 73, spotted something moving in the bushes and went to investigate. (DPA)
